Challenge Canberra – 100 Distance Triathlon
Prepare for the CHALLENGE CANBERRA 100 — a premier 100-distance triathlon featuring a 2km swim, 80km bike, and 18km run on Sunday, 22 November 2026. This flagship event is also a World Qualifying Race for the 2027 Multisport World Championships in Edmonton, Canada.
With the event now based at Black Mountain Peninsula for 2026 and 2027, athletes will experience one of the most scenic and spectator-friendly triathlon city hubs in the country.
Swim – 2km in Calm, Sheltered Water
The race begins with a 1400m loop (big loop) followed by 600m (small loop) to give you a 2km swim in the protected waters off Black Mountain Peninsula — ideal for a fast, controlled, and confidence-building start.
The foreshore provides outstanding vantage points, creating an energising atmosphere for both athletes and spectators.
Bike – 80km of Fast, Flowing, Honest Riding
The redesigned 80km course is engineered for speed, rhythm, and smooth riding. Across four laps, athletes will take on:
-
Smooth hot-mix bitumen for maximum speed
-
The Hindmarsh climb — a short challenge rewarded with a fast, flowing descent
-
Lady Denman Drive and the Tuggeranong Parkway, with only two turns per lap
-
A blend of flat, fast straights and gentle undulations
This is a pure triathlon bike course — aero-friendly, exciting, and consistently quick, offering a balanced test for all athletes.
Run – 18km Fast, Flat Along the Lake Foreshore
The run course showcases the very best of Canberra’s lakeside pathways. Athletes will enjoy:
-
18km of flat, fast running, perfect for holding pace or chasing a PB
-
Supporters lining the race venue every lap creating an upbeat, motivating finish environment
It’s a beautiful, confidence-boosting run route — ideal for making a final surge to the line.
Finish – The Iconic Challenge Canberra Chute
After conquering the swim, bike, and run, athletes enter the Challenge Canberra red-carpet chute at Black Mountain Peninsula.
Here’s where you’ll:
-
Hear the crowd lift
-
See the tape waiting (if first across the line)
