Challenge Canberra Aquabike – 2km Swim + 80km Bike

Get ready for the CHALLENGE CANBERRA Aquabike — a spectacular test of speed and endurance held on Sunday, 22 November 2026. Part of the prestigious 100-distance weekend, this event also serves as a World Qualifying Race for the 2027 Multisport World Championships in Edmonton, Canada.

With Challenge Canberra now based at Black Mountain Peninsula for 2026 and 2027, athletes will enjoy one of the most scenic, accessible, and spectator-friendly venue in Australia.

Swim – 2km in Calm, Sheltered Water

Your day begins with a 2km swim in the protected waters off Black Mountain Peninsula — ideal for a fast, controlled, and confidence-building start.
Spectators can line the foreshore for excellent visibility, creating an energising atmosphere from the very first stroke.

Bike – 80km of Fast, Flowing, Honest Riding

The new 80km course is built for speed, rhythm, and pure enjoyment. Athletes will ride four laps featuring:

  • Smooth hot-mix bitumen for maximum speed

  • The Hindmarsh climb — yes, it bites… but the descent is even better

  • Lady Denman Drive and Tuggeranong Parkway, with only two turns per lap

  • A perfect mix of flat, fast straights and light undulations

This is an aero-friendly, high-tempo course where strong bike handlers will thrive and athletes can settle into a steady, powerful rhythm.

Finish – Your Choice: Tape or Transition

After completing the ride, Aquabike athletes return to T2 at Black Mountain Peninsula, where:

  • You may run down the iconic Challenge Canberra finishing chute and take the tape
    or

  • Simply roll into transition and call it a day — the choice is yours

Either way, your supporters will be right there to celebrate an incredible achievement.
