Challenge Canberra – Olympic Distance Aquabike (1.5km Swim | 40km Bike)
At CHALLENGE CANBERRA, we celebrate every athlete with a true festival of distances. If the middle distance feels a little out of reach, the Olympic Distance Aquabike is the perfect step up — featuring a 1.5km swim and 40km bike on a world-class course.
The race starts from Black Mountain Peninsula, where athletes will complete a 1.5km swim in the calm, sheltered waters of Lake Burley Griffin. It’s the perfect start — smooth, safe, and spectator-friendly.
Then it’s onto the new 40km bike course, following the same fast and flowing roads as the middle-distance athletes. The route takes in Lady Denman Drive and the Parks Way section, offering smooth tarmac, subtle rolling terrain, and a balance of speed and strategy. This course rewards those who can maintain rhythm and power — ideal for a World Qualifying Event that demands both endurance and precision.
Once the ride is complete, athletes rack their bikes in T2 and can choose to run or walk across the finish chute — or simply savour the moment and call it a day once crossing the timing mat.
It’s challenging, fast, and beautifully rewarding — the CHALLENGE CANBERRA Olympic Distance Aquabike is your race to conquer.
