Challenge Canberra will feature a total prize purse of $20,000, distributed across the Challenge Canberra Pro Open and the Challenge Canberra Junior Pro Open.

Both the male and female divisions of the Pro Open and Junior Pro Open will be handicapped based on 2024 male and female results. The first male or female over the line in the Pro Open Olympic Distance event will receive an additional $500, while the first male or female over the line of the Junior Pro Open Sprint Distance event will earn an additional $200.

Each year, the time difference between the female and male wave starts will be adjusted to create the closest possible race outcomes.

Proposed Wave Start Differences for 2025:

  • Pro Open Olympic Distance: Male wave starts 13:45 minutes after the female wave.
  • Junior Pro Open Sprint Distance: Male wave starts 9:08 minutes after the female wave.

Prize money is available for both Pro Open events and athletes must hold a Australian Triathlon membership to qualify for prize money. Please contact Corey Bacon, for further information.
