Challenge Canberra – Middle Distance Triathlon (1.9km Swim | 90km Bike | 21.1km Run)
The CHALLENGE CANBERRA middle distance returns on Sunday 16 November 2025, featuring a spectacular 1.9km swim, 90km bike, and 21.1km run. This flagship event is also a World Qualifying Race for the 2026 Multisport World Championships in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Canberra, the nation’s capital, is easily accessible from every major Australian city — just a three-hour drive from Sydney and only 8km from the airport. With plenty of accommodation options and a compact city layout, it’s the ideal race destination for athletes and supporters alike.
The event will now be hosted from the beautiful Black Mountain Peninsula, one of Canberra’s most scenic and spectator-friendly locations. The 1.9km swim takes place in the calm, sheltered waters off the peninsula, where supporters can line the shore and watch every stroke from start to finish.
Then it’s onto the new 90km bike course, featuring smooth, flowing roads along Lady Denman Drive and the famous Parks Way stretch between Glenloch Interchange and Kings Avenue Bridge. The course is fast and honest, with subtle rolling terrain that rewards rhythm and strength — a true triathlete’s course that delivers both speed and challenge.
From there, athletes transition to the new lakeside run course, a two-lap route within Black Mountain Peninsula and the surrounding paths. The run is mostly flat with a few gentle rises to keep things interesting, offering stunning lake views and plenty of spectator energy, especially around the Red Bull Energy Station and finish precinct.
With multiple well-stocked aid stations every 2km, you’ll have everything you need to stay fuelled and focused all the way to the finish chute — ready to take the tape and celebrate your Challenge moment.
This is your chance to push your limits, embrace the challenge, and be part of something truly special. The CHALLENGE CANBERRA middle-distance triathlon is ready. Are you?
